How much is an ounce of weed? Where to shop this summer

Ounce of weed

The national average cost for an ounce of weed is $259 this summer, or about $10 more than you would have paid at the beginning of the year.

Indeed, we’ve seen the average price for an ounce of cannabis inch up slightly this year, despite reports of an overabundance of supply.

There are now 30 states that have legalized medical cannabis and nine states that have legalized recreational, which includes the massive market of California. Newer markets who have legalized cannabis in some capacity tend to see a jump in cannabis prices, which lifts up the overall nationwide average. Older markets, like Denver, tend to see lower prices.

Of course, what you’ll truly pay depends on where you live, the season and other variables.

For example, the average price for an ounce of cannabis in Denver is $216. But the average for an ounce in Seattle is $281, while the average in Las Vegas is a whopping $321.

The amount you’ll spend on an ounce also largely varies by the strain that you’re buying. If you’re in the market for a popular strain like Blue Dream, for example, you may pay more in some cities depending on availability, grower and other factors.

Undoubtedly, finding the best prices on a particular strain of cannabis or cannabis products (like CBD oil) can be difficult to do without a proper tool.
